AI and the Bible on Ignite the World broadcast.

Discussing AI & the Bible on Ignite the World Ministries

Recently, I had the pleasure of being a guest on the Ignite the World Ministries (IWM) broadcast, hosted by my dear friends, Drs. Stanley and Corliss Williford. We discussed AI and the Bible. The Willifords have an incredible teaching ministry. During the broadcast, we dove into the topic of ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Bible’ in Part 1 of a series of programs. Part 2, titled ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Church’, is scheduled to air next week.

The impact of AI is being felt in virtually every aspect of our lives. As we explored in the first episode, it has even encroached upon the most cherished possession of believers – the Bible. In the upcoming second episode, we will be providing valuable insights on AI. How shall the church prepare the people of God for the inevitable influence of AI? We will provide tips for confronting AI.

AI & the Writers & Actors on Strike

On July 27th, I drove past Walt Disney Studios (not the amusement park) in Burbank. I saw a picket line that wrapped around the perimeter of the 55 acre lot. The cause behind the picketing was a writers’ strike for higher pay and increased residuals. However, the underlying concern is the threat of AI taking over their jobs. That is a concern also shared by actors who have also joined them on the picket line. With over 70,000 employees on strike, it highlights the growing anxiety around the world. Predictions indicate that AI could displace a staggering 300 million workers worldwide. That is nearly equivalent to the population of the United States. The writers have already been out of work for almost three months.

Get Across the AI Bridge…Now!

I pray that your job is not at risk of being outsourced to automation. But if that happens, you don’t have to be worried. But it will take preparation on your part.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

If the employment bridge will indeed collapse under the weight of AI and 300 million workers, don’t get caught standing on the bridge. Neither should you play it safe, retreat to the forgotten side and wait for your UBI check (universal basic income). UBI will be little more than a global welfare system.

Instead, I urge you to head toward the safe side of the bridge, where opportunities await. Embracing the changes brought about by AI and finding innovative ways to adapt and grow will be key to navigating this new landscape successfully.

In an upcoming live broadcast several weeks from now on Ignite the World, we will discuss AI and its impact on employment in more detail.
