The Mark of the Beast. Is it really right?

Revelation 13:16 states. “He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads.”

In a previous post I discussed the Mark of the Beast. I explored the possible placement of the mark as mentioned in the Bible. According to the Bible, there are two options: the hand or the forehead.

The questions I had were as follows: 1. Must the mark be exclusively placed on the right hand or forehead? Or, 2. Could it also be placed on the left hand or forehead? I presented information that led me to believe that the term “right hand” in Revelation 13:16 referred to the dominant hand. Therefore, I believe the mark could alternatively be placed on the left hand or forehead.

2 Corinthians 13:1 states, “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.”. This principle is also supported in 1 Timothy 5:19 and Hebrews 10:28.

More Revelation

Additional mentions of the mark can be found in the book of Revelation. In Revelation 14:9 and Revelation 20:4, the mark is mentioned without distinguishing between the right or left hand.

Revelation 14:9 states, “Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, ‘If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on their forehead or on their hand...”

Revelation 20:4 states, “…I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands.”

The mark of the beast is mentioned three times in the book of Revelation. Only once, in 13:16, does it specifically mention the right hand. This does not meet the criterion of “two or three witnesses” mentioned in 2 Corinthians 13:1. However, it is certain that the mark will be placed on the hand or forehead according to biblical references. We just cannot be biblically certain that it is exclusively on the right hand.

Good News…If

Here’s good news for followers of Jesus who have been born again before the tribulation. The distinction of right or left hand does not matter. Believers will have been raptured to heaven before the 7 years of tribulations begin.

To unbelievers who enter the tribulation period: it is crucial to avoid taking the mark at all costs. You’re damned if you do and darned if you don’t. Those who take the mark will spend eternity in torment. Those who refuse the mark and turn to Jesus will experience short-lived tribulation (lasting a maximum of 7 years). You will spend eternity with the Lord, though you may loose your head getting there.

Regardless of where the mark of the beast is placed, the recipient must worship the beast (antichrist) or face death. Revelation 13:15 states: “He (the false prophet) was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast (antichrist) should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.”

If you have never invited Jesus into your heart, I encourage you to do so today!
